Bible Note: Hello, I like the meaning for "Holy". "Hagios" in it's simplest meaning is "to be pure". It stems from cultic practices where the quality of one's worship of their deity was of supreme importance. The intension was to be so "holy" that you became divinity. I find it ironic that we, as Christians, are called not only to be Holy, but to live as Christ lived and to possess the mind that Christ possessed. Not only are we called just to be holy and pure, but to be as Holy and pure as christ is holy and pure. This even ties into the being made righteous, or sanctified, before God. In fact, "sanctified" and "Sanctuary" both have origins connected with "Hagios". There's a lot of doctrine in that little word, "hagios". Jesus Loves You! Jesusman |
