AMPLIFIED 2015 | Joshua 1:4 "From the wilderness [of Arabia in the south] and this Lebanon [in the north], even as far as the great river, the river Euphrates [in the east], all the land of the Hittites (Canaan), and as far as the Great [Mediterranean] Sea toward the west shall be your territory. |
Bible Question: From this verse it appears that God gave Israel more land than they are currently fighting over. Was this promise fulfilled? |
Bible Answer: Hi, Momma! I hope you are doing well... I've been praying for you and your family in their recent bereavement. One must remember that Israel (except for Judah) was destroyed by Assyria (2 Kings 17:18). Therefore, one might want to look at the current size of what we think of as Israel compared to the lands promised to Judah. These are only my thoughts. I haven't actually researched the question either from the standpoint of actual geography (I'm lousy with geography!) or if there is a concensus among modern Jews regarding such a notion. Anyway... Just something to think about. In Him, Doc |
