Bible Question: WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE SOUL AND THE SPIRIT? DO ANIMALS HAVE A SOUL AND A SPIRIT? |
Bible Answer: I would not deny that man is "body, soul, and spirit." But after years of reading the Bible, commentaries and definitions, it is still unclear to me what the distinction is between soul and spirit. I wouldn't even attempt to define the distinction. Let me emphasize that I do not in any way question what the scriptures actually SAY. What I question is whether body and soul are indeed two separate parts of man. I.e., what I question are the many interpretaions and definitions people have written to distinguish between the two, not what the Bible says about soul and spirit. If indeed the soul and spirit are two separate entities, ideally I would like to see a clear verse of Scripture defining soul and another defining spirit. Then I would like to see a verse that clearly defines the distinction between the two, *not a verse that merely LISTS the two without differentiating between them.* I am not trying to test anyone. I feel that my question is a reasonable one that deserves clear verses of Scripture to establish some distinction between spirit and soul. Yours is a good question. When you find out the answer, share it with me, please. I, too, would sincerely like to know. |
