NASB | James 2:14 ¶ What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him? |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | James 2:14 ¶ What is the benefit, my fellow believers, if someone claims to have faith but has no [good] works [as evidence]? Can that [kind of] faith save him? [No, a mere claim of faith is not sufficient--genuine faith produces good works.] |
Subject: What is Faith Without Works - Part 2 |
Bible Note: Ed, I worded those paragraphs in such manner as to not put forth any of my own notions. I asked questions in order for Christians to consider their lives and what they are doing with said lives. Each person can come to their own conclusion. Whether they agree or disagree with me is of no importance. The Word of God can and does stand on its own. In other words, it says what it says. A practice i try to employ is to interpret the clear, concise and unambiguous passages as they are and let those clear passages lead the way in the interpretation of the more difficult portions. I don't want to go in depth with this or debate it. It was not the intended purpose of this post and whether you believe the gifts of healing, etc are for today or not in no way affects your or my salvation. There are those out there that believe A) works get them to heaven, or B)they can be a "christian" and experience no change. both of these views are erroneous and it was to these two "camps" that I posted and hope to see some result and work brought about by the Holy Spirit. I may not see it until I get to heaven myself, but it is what I felt led to do and I have hope and faith that God will use it in some way for the furtherment of His kingdom. In Love, Aristarchus |
