Bible Question: What is the difference between Religon and Christianity? |
Bible Answer: Religion can be any religion: i.e. moslims, buddist, and other beliefs that we have in our days. And Christianity are belongs to a kind of religion, or one of the religion. Christianity or Christian is the religion derrive from our Lord Jesus Christ i.e. catholics, protestants. There are other religion claiming that they are Christian but denying the being God of Jesus Christ. Almost all of the Christian religions also claiming that they are the true religion that derrive from Christ, but this is the kind of pure religion that mentions by James: Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world. Easton Bible Dictionary: Christian the name given by the Greeks or Romans, probably in reproach, to the followers of Jesus. It was first used at Antioch. The names by which the disciples were known among themselves were "brethren," "the faithful," "elect," "saints," "believers." But as distinguishing them from the multitude without, the name "Christian" came into use, and was universally accepted. This name occurs but three times in the New Testament (Ac 11:26; 26:28; 1Pe 4:16). |
