Bible Question:
We are to count it all joy when we fall into diverse temptations (james) How do we find that hope or Joy? Are there any verses that could help? |
Bible Answer: Hi JA03, This is a good question for the Christmas season. There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. Luke 2:25. He was looking for the "consolation" of Israel, verse 25, and found Him in the Child Jesus. A woman named Anna continued the praise of God in the passage by speaking of the "redemption" of Jerusalem. In Him we find hope and joy at this season of the year. We are consoled (less sadness) and have the joy of redemption having seen and knowing the Lord's Christ. In answer to your question on how to find "Hope" I would send you to the concordance and you will find this capitalized word in Jeremiah 14:8. Jeremiah 14:7, "Although our iniquities testify against us, O Lord, act for Thy name's sake! Truly our apostasies have been many, We have sinned against (Thee). 8 Thou Hope [sic] of Israel, Its Savior IN TIME OF DISTRESS, Why art Thou like a stranger in the land Or like a traveler who has pitched his tent for the night? 9 Why art Thou like a man dismayed, Like a mighty man who cannot save? Yet Thou/ art in our midst, O Lord, And we are called by Thy name; do not forsake us!" Here's the same old question; why do we make Jesus out to be just a man, although a mighty man? He is our hope, and He is our Hope. Jeremiah 14:22, "Are there any among the idols of the nations who give rain? Or can the heavens grant showers? Is it not Thou/, O Lord our God? Therefore we hope in (Thee), For Thou art the *One who hast done all these things." Psalm 43:5, "Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope [Or, Wait for] in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance, and my God." He can help us have a more joyful countenance and a less sad outlook. We could also consider Psalm 43:3 and think of Him as our Light and the Truth. Even the light of our countenance, [the gladness of my joy] as the NASB margin says for verse three.
