Subject: WHO is Hebrews 6:4-11 refering to? |
Bible Note: Dear brother Hank, Thank you for the explanation. Of course, anything that any one of us states is merely a matter of expressing our understanding. The greatest authority on a Biblical subject cannot come close to the authority of Scripture. As some of the divines of old put it, "The supreme judge by which all controversies of religion are to be determined, and all decrees of councils, opinions of ancient writers, doctrines of men, and private spirits, are to be examined, and in whose sentence we are to rest, can be no other but the Holy Spirit speaking in the Scripture." It always impressed me that in this statement they were even including themselves! Frankly, I've been wrong more years of my life than I've been right. :-) The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know. I'm only just learning to be dogmatic where the Scripture is dogmatic, and to try to shut up where the Scripture is silent. Thank you, again, for taking the time to give a little history. In Him, Doc |
