Bible Question (short): Joshua or Jesus? |
Question (full): Does this verse refer to Jesus or Joshua (The Son of Nun) giving people rest? I took my favorite translations (KJV, ASV, NRSV, WEB, NKJV, and NAS) and compared them. The results are below. And does inserting Joshua for Jesus and vice versa change the verse's meaning? JOSHUA JESUS ASV KJV [FN: Jesus: that is, Joshua] WEB NAS [FN: Gr Jesus] NRSV NKJV ASV: American Standard Version WEB: World English Bible (14 Jun 2001 update was used) NAS: New American Standard (95 Update was used) KJV: King James Version NRSV: New Revised Standard Version NKJV: New King James Version FN: Footnote Thanks for any help. This question has been tugging at me. |
