NASB | Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all, and the marriage bed is to be undefiled; for fornicators and adulterers God will judge. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 13:4 Marriage is to be held in honor among all [that is, regarded as something of great value], and the marriage bed undefiled [by immorality or by any sexual sin]; for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous. |
Bible Question:
I know a man that claims he and a woman said vows to each other. Does this mean they are married? The woman left him after a few months. Are they still married? Does he have to give her a certificate of divorce? He also believes there is nothing wrong with intimacy outside of marriage between consenting single or divorced adults. I know the Bible is clear on this but where is it? |
Bible Answer: I imagine different countries have different laws in regards to marriage. What country do these people live in? In my country, you can't just say vows and be married - it has to be done with a registered marriage celebrant. If they have never been properly married, then there is no divorce either. Here's one scripture about marriage - Hebrews 13:4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. |
