Bible Question:
Where in the Bible does it say that premarital sex is a sin? I've read as much as I could and I just can't find where I says it's a sin to have sex before marriage. I'm starting to conclude that intercourse IS a marriage between two people and the sin is to have intercourse with more than one partner. When you here people in divorce court and they say if the marriage has not been consumated then you're not married. I understand what it means to have sex with someone. But is it really neccesary to have a piece of paper saying we are married before we have sex? They didn't have in back then. Actually the wedding was just an announcement to the family to recognize that they are coming together in a holy matrimony. |
Bible Answer: 1 Corinthians 7:1-9 Now concerning the things whereof ye wrote unto me: It is good for a man not to touch a woman. Nevertheless, to avoid fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have her own husband. Let the husband render unto the wife due benevolence: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. But I speak this by permission, and not of commandment. For I would that all men were even as I myself. But every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It is good for them if they abide even as I. But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it is better to marry than to burn. 1 Thessalonians 4:3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: Praise the Lord!
