NASB | Hebrews 12:17 For you know that even afterwards, when he desired to inherit the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no place for repentance, though he sought for it with tears. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 12:17 For you know that later on, when he wanted [to regain title to] his inheritance of the blessing, he was rejected, for he found no opportunity for repentance [there was no way to repair what he had done, no chance to recall the choice he had made], even though he sought for it with [bitter] tears. [Gen 27:30-40] |

Bible Note: Hi terrib, Just as when the door of the ark was shut, it was too late to get in. As far as the parable (if indeed it is a parable) of the rich man and Lazarus is concerned, I had two thoughts. First of all, the need of water was of the rich man; and the rich man wanted Lazarus to get it for him. However, we can reflect on Lazarus and Isaac both being figures of people wanting to do something for someone and unable to do so. We are all responsible for our own lives, are we not. I appreciate your thought of glorifying God in all that we do. When those times of temptation to sin, (to think of desires of the present instead of the blessings of the future as in Esau's case) present themselves we'll have to remember or find out that there are consequences to our actions. But I find in looking at Genesis this morning, how much God has blessed us. He started in Genesis 1:27,28, "And God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. And (God) blessed them; and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the earth." Genesis ends with the blessing from the (Almighty) who blesses us with blessings from heaven above, and Joseph says that God will surely take care of you, or visit you. So I won't attempt to say which Person blesses or is with us the most, but I glorify our triune God with you. From the heart, Ray |
