NASB | Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain, through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous, God testifying about his gifts, and through faith, though he is dead, he still speaks. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:4 By faith Abel offered to God a more acceptable sacrifice than Cain, through which it was testified of him that he was righteous (upright, in right standing with God), and God testified by accepting his gifts. And though he died, yet through [this act of] faith he still speaks. [Gen 4:3-10] |
Subject: Why did God have no regard for Cain? |
Bible Note: VERY good point!!! Gen 4:3 reads "...Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the Lord." It does not say the first fruits. However Gen 4:4 reads "And Abel... brought of the firstlings..." I believe the wording here is significant. Cain's heart was evil, greedy as you say and jealous of his brother. We can not hide our hearts from God no matter how hard we try or how much we wish to do so. |
