AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:20 By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau [believing what God revealed to him], even regarding things to come. [Gen 27:27-29, 39, 40] |
Bible Question: Bear with me. Still confused! I see that by faith Isaac believed his descendants would be blessed. But he did not bless both Esau AND Jacob. Gen 27:38 "Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!" |
Bible Answer: Hi imforgiven, Heb 11:20 is very clear and says both were: "By faith Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau, even regarding things to come." It may depend on how you read it but... look at 27:39-40: "Then Isaac his father answered and said to him, "Behold, away from the fertility of the earth shall be your dwelling, And away from the dew of heaven from above. By your sword you shall live, And your brother you shall serve; But it shall come about when you become restless, That you will break his yoke from your neck." I hope this clarifies, BradK |
