NASB | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the assurance (title deed, confirmation) of things hoped for (divinely guaranteed), and the evidence of things not seen [the conviction of their reality--faith comprehends as fact what cannot be experienced by the physical senses]. |
Bible Question (short): How was salvation seen in OT? |
Question (full): Can someone please tell me how the Old Testament writers understood salvation? I know they were ultimately saved by Christ which the sacrifical system pointed to, but, what did they think they got saved from? It seems to me that David in Psalms was wanting salvation from his physical enemies. Through Judges, the same thing, Israel needed saving from the nations that oppressed them. Can anyone find verses that show they saw salvation as eternal life, cause it seems to me that for them salvation was connected to the present difficulty? |
