Bible Question:
Hebrews10:26-31 I have a question that has been bugging me for a while. I've been off smoking, drugs and alcohol for a while now and I don't plan to go back to it. But in the past when I would go to my home town I would fall right back into it again. Now I avoid my old life like the plauge, but now I feel like I've gone to far. I know I willfully sinned and I am prepared to face God for what I have done to him. I was just wondering your opinions. Is it to late for me? |
Bible Answer: Hi Crystal, Welcome to the Study Bible Forum! I see you have received some good responses to your question and I hope you will prayerfully consider what everyone has shared with you. I wanted to take the opportunity to share with you also because God's grace is so amazing and your need for Him is essential. God the Father sent God the Son (Jesus) to be the Saviour of the world (1 John 4:14). It is only through the Son that God's plan of salvation is accomplished (Acts 4:12, John 14:6) We were born into sin and therefore dead in sin, separated from God our Creator (1 Corinthians 15:22 , Ephesians 2:12) In our sinful nature, we suppress the truth of God in unrighteousness even though that which is known about God is evident within us. (Romans 1:18-23 , Romans 3:9-20). But God, in His grace took the initiative to reconcile mankind to Himself through the sinless life and death of His only begotten Son (John 3:16, Ephesians 2:4-10, Romans 3:21-24). God the Father sent His Son (Jesus) to free us from sin (Romans 6:6-7, Romans 6:17-18) and to give to those who believe in Him the right to be children of God (John 1:12). Jesus shed blood in sacrifice satisfied the demands of God's divine justice. God the Father confirmed in the resurrection of the Son that the sacrifice of the Son is complete and sufficient for the sins of the world (Matthew 28, John 20:19-22, 1 Corinthians 15:3-8, 1 John 2:2). Jesus paid the debt owed to God for our sins (Matthew 20:28, Colossians 2:13-14) and by God's grace, those who believe in Christ Jesus are justified as a gift and have peace with God and are reconciled back to Him(Romans 3:22-25, Romans 5:1, 2 Corinthians 5:18-19, Colossians 1:20-22). Crystal, you are no different then any of the rest of us. We were all sinners just like you and desperate for a Saviour. There is not one born again Christian that has anything to boast about or claim they have done on their own. Each and every one of us who has been saved has been saved by the grace of God through faith (Ephesians 2:8-10). In 1 Corinthians 15:3-4 Paul says (15:3)"For I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, (15:4) and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures And Paul says in Romans 10:9-10 (10:9) that if you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved (10:10) for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation. Crystal, we are simply benefactors of His grace. Without Him, it would indeed be to late for you and me and for everyone else! Trust in Him and all that He has revealed to us in His word! God bless, Steve |
