Subject: Do you have to go to church and on sun.? |
Bible Note: "We are dazzled by the brilliance of your answer, but..." First of all if you feel your sarcasm is appreciated or makes you look good, you are sorley mistaken. It demeans our brother Packer and is not mature or productive in any way that I can see. You Wrote- One person alone (singular) is NOT the church. The church is corporate. The church is the body of believers (plural). Playing word games will not change the truth of the Word One person may not be the coorperate Church, but one person is a joint and part of the cooperate Body of Christ as well as represents the Body of Christ to others. If we are limited to using Church only in the context of the body in it's entirity our vocabulary is in need of an extreme overhaul. You wrote- "On the other hand, on Sunday or Wednesday or whenever the local assembly meets, it normally meets at the church building. It does not meet weekly at the golf course, the lake, or the ballgame." I completely disagree with this statement! If you are part of the body of Christ and you go golfing with your Brother in Christ. IT IS CHURCH. Packer is right on. If we are the church how can we escape church activity??? Everything I do as a believer represents My Lord and is directly part of his buisness or His body's (church) activity. Mowing my yard is a church activity because I do not leave the Lord out of it. Church (Activity in the body of Christ) is going on all over this world at all times on Golf Courses at the Lake at ballgames and at my house on a monday night. I try and assemble with my brothers and sisters every chance I get. And it doesn't matter where I am or what I am doing. It is Church. No wonder so many people I know are fed up with people acting one way at the "Church Building" and differently in the work place. Because man brought seperation to Church and Life. Church is my life. Matthew 18:20 For wherever two or three are gathered (drawn together as My followers) in (into) My name, there I AM in the midst of them. |
