Bible Question:
Hello Brothers and Sisters in Christ, I'm doing a study of self-control. My question is because the Greek word "sophron" is used in this verse and the word "Egkrateia" is used in Galatians 5:23. Is "sophron" an act that we work out within ourselves, therefore leaving "egkraeia" something that we recieve from the Holy Spirit? Please use Scripture to answer this question. Thanks Saints. |
Bible Answer: 2 Peter 1:5-8 includes "Egkrateia" as something we are to be dilgent in adding to knowledge. Romans 12:3 uses a form of "sophron" which it states as the opposite of being high-minded. Perhaps the dichotomy in your question should be reconsidered. Can't the Holy Spirit give us something that we have to work out within ourselves? |
