Bible Question (short): Is Sexual Desires before marriage wrong? |
Question (full): It is commonly taught that sexual fantasies and masturbation is wrong because it is fornication because you are not married. But i read the Song of Solomon and I interpret the Song of Solomon is showing extreme sexual desire between 2 people who were not even married yet (see Songs 3:4 and 8:2) - both of those two scripture is talking about the womans fantasy of taking the man home to her mothers house if they were already married then wouldnt they just go to the mans house? - also see Song of Solomon verses 2:7 and 3:5 and 8:4 more scripture to show they were not married. Back in the Old testament - premarital sex was hardly an issue at all in fact on 2 old testament scriptures talk about it (see exodus 22:16 and Deut 22:28) back then marriages happened at 13-14 years old at the same time as puberty - (see 1 Cor 7:36 - Exodus 21:9 - 1 Cor 7:9) is there evidence in the bible that this is not to be followed anymore? in my opinion dating is humanistic and not scriptural - to me there is no evidence of "Abstinence" being taught in the bible (not refering to celebacy in 1 Cor 7 and Matt 19) - If fornication is so bad - shouldnt marriages at younger ages be addressed then to avoid fornication or as 1 cor 7 states "it is better to marry than to burn". |
