Bible Question: What is the biblical listed qualifications of the duties of a deacon? |
Bible Answer: I have a challenging thought. Perhaps it is life patterns of significant Christlike living, and not qualifications. If a Deacon in the truest form according to Acts, they were to wait on tables, so the elders could do more of their work. Today in some fundamental Churches a divorced person can not serve. Say nothing of a woman! However a Deacon might have had several sexual infidelities and because he was not divorced be QUALIFIED to serve. I personally like the Elders with the Pastor leading the church. I think it is closer to scripture than a Pastor answering to a decon board. No pastor should be voted out by any group with out working with GODLY leadership. I am convienced that 95 percent of the church deacons are serving out of selfish desires to be boss. Leadership Maginizine did a poll several years ago and found out few deacons serve to serve Christ. The Church is not a democracy! We have too many un spiritual people making spiritual choices for the direction they want the church to go! Do I hear a amen out there? |
