Bible Question:
When Paul wrote his letter to Titus, he spoke about some judaizing christians in a negative sense (cf. Titus 1:10 and 11) And when he was finished in this two verses he concluded by saying: "One of them, a prophet of their own, said, "Cretans are always liars, evil beasts, lazy gluttons.""(Titus 1:12 NKJV) My question is: "If this cited prophet spoke about the geral natural of CRETANS, why did Paul apply this to christian JUDAIZING, or christians who were Jews?" |
Bible Answer: Hello DUDUTJ, He did not apply it to them. By following the passage, you will see that the main argument is against the Cretans as a whole, but especially to those Cretans who were unbelieving Jews. You might ask why Titus should waste his breath rebuking these people. Paul wants all to be sound in the faith, not just the Christians. Steve |
