NASB | 2 Timothy 4:8 in the future there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day; and not only to me, but also to all who have loved His appearing. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 4:8 In the future there is reserved for me the [victor's] crown of righteousness [for being right with God and doing right], which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that [great] day--and not to me only, but also to all those who have loved and longed for and welcomed His appearing. |
Subject: His appearing |
Bible Note: Why do we love His appearing? Why should we love to remember Him each week? "Beloved, now are we the children of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be, but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. And every man that hath this hope in Him purifieth himself even as He is pure" 1Jn 3:2,3. As disciples, we would be like our Master (Mt 10:25). The more we become like Him in this life the less drastic a change there will be when we see Him. When we gather to remember Him we can be changed a little more into His image. The more we become like Him, the more we want to be like Him so that "I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with thy likeness" Ps 17:15. Are you looking forward to His return, are you remembering Him till He comes? Lord, we are thine, we praise Thy love, one with Thy saints, all one in Thee; We would, until we meet above, in all our ways remember Thee. James Deck |
