AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when people will not tolerate sound doctrine and accurate instruction [that challenges them with God's truth]; but wanting to have their ears tickled [with something pleasing], they will accumulate for themselves [many] teachers [one after another, chosen] to satisfy their own desires and to support the errors they hold, |
Bible Question: What constitutes sound doctrine? How does one know if they are inline with historic, orthodox Biblical teaching? |
Bible Answer: Sound doctrine is doctrine, or should I say beliefs, that can be backed up by scripture. Some doctrines are in reality traditions of denominations and have no biblical basis. In order to know if a teaching is correct, go to the Bible to see if your belief lines up with God's Word. Some things souund right, but they have no Biblical backing. 2Timothy 4:3 For a time will be when they will not endure sound doctrine, but they will heap up teachers to themselves according to their own lusts, tickling the ear. |
