Bible Question: I prayed a prayer like this the first time I went to the church I'm going to now. It was actually a song that said "I'll never know how much it cost to see my sins upon the cross" that had hit me real hard and made me want to draw closer to God and dedicate my life to him. I don't think I had any kind of accurate knowledge and after 5 months I am still just beginning to get an understanding. I do love God with all my heart and am trying with everything I have to find out more about him, what makes him happy, and to change when I find out that something I do is displeasing to him. This post talks about something I have wondered about since at the time I wasn't as sure about what I was doing. I just knew that I didn't like my former way of life and I knew that the most important thing I could do was find out God's will in my life and I was grateful for Jesus' sacrifice that made it possible. Do you think that my prayer still was valid even though I had so little knowledge of what I actually was doing? |
Bible Answer: leonore YES! I think by what you said anyone can see what I consider to essential elements to salvation. Repentance - I didn't like my former way of life. Urgency and Servanthood - I knew the most important thing I could do was find out God's will in my life. Belief - I was grateful for Jesus' sacrifice that made it possible. While you may not have been able to put everything into correct theological terms you obviously understood your need for salvation, and that Jesus was the way. I praise God that for your testimony!
