Bible Question: I prayed a prayer like this the first time I went to the church I'm going to now. It was actually a song that said "I'll never know how much it cost to see my sins upon the cross" that had hit me real hard and made me want to draw closer to God and dedicate my life to him. I don't think I had any kind of accurate knowledge and after 5 months I am still just beginning to get an understanding. I do love God with all my heart and am trying with everything I have to find out more about him, what makes him happy, and to change when I find out that something I do is displeasing to him. This post talks about something I have wondered about since at the time I wasn't as sure about what I was doing. I just knew that I didn't like my former way of life and I knew that the most important thing I could do was find out God's will in my life and I was grateful for Jesus' sacrifice that made it possible. Do you think that my prayer still was valid even though I had so little knowledge of what I actually was doing? |
Bible Answer: I take great comfort from the following: Deut 4:25 After you have had children and grandchildren and have lived in the land a long time-if you then become corrupt and make any kind of idol, doing evil in the eyes of the LORD your God and provoking him to anger, 26 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you this day that you will quickly perish from the land that you are crossing the Jordan to possess. You will not live there long but will certainly be destroyed. 27 The LORD will scatter you among the peoples, and only a few of you will survive among the nations to which the LORD will drive you. 28 There you will worship man-made gods of wood and stone, which cannot see or hear or eat or smell. 29 But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. 30 When you are in distress and all these things have happened to you, then in later days you will return to the LORD your God and obey him. 31 For the LORD your God is a merciful God; he will not abandon or destroy you or forget the covenant with your forefathers, which he confirmed to them by oath. Please notice even the most vile creature among us can change his ways and turn his heart toward God. Yes, I'm convinced that if we turn to God in prayer, He'll turn to us and answer our prayer, whatever condition or relationship we're in. We just need to resolve to study God's Word and obey the instructions we read there. God bless. |
