AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 3:16 All Scripture is God-breathed [given by divine inspiration] and is profitable for instruction, for conviction [of sin], for correction [of error and restoration to obedience], for training in righteousness [learning to live in conformity to God's will, both publicly and privately--behaving honorably with personal integrity and moral courage]; |
Bible Question: How did Moses write Deuteronomy 34 about his death before it happened? He was 120 years old when he wrote the book, and he died shortly after (he was still 120). How did he know about the details about his burial and what the future leaders would be like? |
Bible Answer: Someone is sure to say he didn’t. The reasoning for that will likely be complicated. So let me offer first a simpler answer. Inspiration. How did Moses know what had happened before his birth? How could he write with confidence: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”? How did he know that the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters? Inspiration. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. He moved upon the waters. He moved upon holy men like Moses. And he is moving on you now. Does it make sense? The God who told Isaiah and David how Jesus would die told Moses how he would die. |
