NASB | 2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | 2 Timothy 2:13 If we are faithless, He remains faithful [true to His word and His righteous character], for He cannot deny Himself. |
Subject: He cannot deny Himself |
Bible Note: What comfort this is! He chooses to contend with us (Jer 2:9) in order to restore us to righteousness, and will not abandon us (John 14:18; Heb 13:5) even if we are faithless. Note that the reason is "He cannot deny Himself" -- pointing not only to the irrevocable promise, but to the Deposit (Eph 1:13,14): He, Himself as Holy Spirit, within us when re-created in His Image (2 Cor 3:18). |
