Subject: My parents don't act christian help |
Bible Note: As Nolan has pointed out, domestic problems of these kinds are often delicate ones, and the solution is neither always simple nor particularly easy, and it may take time and patience to hang on until a genuine solution can be found. For the 15-year old, I'd suggest two things. If he is a Christian, pray about it and ask God's help. And, secondly, try to keep the line of communications open with the parents. Frank and open discussion among family members is much to be preferred to keeping the problems bottled up inside. It is usual for the parent to guide the child, but perhaps this situation affords some opportunity, and perhaps need, for the child to guide the parent. When our three children were growing up, my wife and I encouraged honest discussion and feed-back, but not rebellious talk-back, in our family relationships. And I must add that this enabled us as parents to learn a great deal from, and about, our children. Blessings to you. --Hank |
