Bible Question: Where and what does the Bible say about paying the Minister? (Monetary) |
Bible Answer: Greetings rdraughan! 1 Timothy 5:17-18, Philippians 4:10-19 and 1 Corinthians 9:7-14 all support the giving of provisions to those pastors and apostles who are appointed above us. However, if you look closely at the passage in Philippians and in 2 Timothy 4:16-18 as well as 2 Peter 1:3, we can see that God will provide even in the midst of those who do not provide sustenance or provisions for the pastor, since every good gift comes from above (James 1:16-27). Even with that said, that would almost contradict (at first glance) what Jesus said in Matthew 10:9-10 and Mark 6:8-9. However, Jesus directed the disciples in this way so that they would have to depend entirely on the hospitality of those to whom they testified. In this way, we can learn to cast all our cares upon the Lord (1 Peter 5:7). Blessings to you, Nolan |
