Bible Question: Is 1 Tim 2:12 applicable to the present day body of Christ. If this verse is to be taken literally why are there women teacher's such as Joyce Meyers/Marilyn Hickey/Gloria Copeland and others? Is what they are doing biblical? |
Bible Answer: Aussie Janet, I would like to commend you on basing your question on the scriptures. The scripture you reference is clear and understandable, to those who want to understand it. Many do not, and respond with dogmatic emphasis that if the scripture is looked at from a certain angle then their view will carry the day. Humanity is fallen and certainly no less so as His return approaches. By way of context, the purpose of 1 Timothy: 1 Timothy 3:14 ¶These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly: 15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
