Bible Question:
1Tim 2 states that a woman should not pray or prophecy, what is the behind this? I know culture is part of it. Then look at 1 Cor: 11 states: when a woman prophecyies she should do so with her head covered. There are contradictions, one says don't and the other says, you can. Which is it? |
Bible Answer: Paul answers many questions and manners of conduct that were made known to him about the church at Corinth. In chapter 11 v.4-15 he is doing just that. Note in verse 16 he tells them "we have no such custom, neither the churches of God" The church there was being instructed by Paul on how to conduct their public meetings as well as their personal walk. Be careful when you read to know which he is addressing. NOTE: In Acts 1:1 Luke tells us he wrote his first letter that bears his name to show "all that Jesus began both to do and teach". Jesus BEGAN the teaching and it continues through the Holy Spirit throughout the New Testament when men were inspired to write. |
