Bible Question:
How would you see this verse in light of talking about the scriptures? Being that, all scripture is profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness, is there any Biblical subject that should be off limits for discussion between the saints? According to this scripture "all" scripture profits and should have an application and we need them all to be eqquipped for every good work. What topic could possibly be off limits between saints? I am sincerely seeking an answer to this because I need to hear and read what others think of this. blessings abound, bowler |
Bible Answer: bowler, In the full context of what Paul was saying, there were reasons for his admonition to Timothy, in direct relation to what Paul said not to talk about, or the people not to talk to. Because they gender strife's, both topics, and people. As far as us, (believers) having a discussion, there shouldn't be any topics we could not talk about. Whenever we are engaged in a conversation, we know when it heads into the direction of controversy. In the case of the Forum, there isn't anything inherently wrong with any topic to be discussed, the problem arises because it is an (Open Forum), and there are some brothers that don't have the knowledge, understanding, thereby possibly causing them difficulties in there own walk Romans 15:1 We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves. 1 Timothy 1 3) As I besought thee to abide still at Ephesus, when I went into Macedonia,( that thou mightest charge some that they teach no other doctrine.) 4) Neither give heed to fables and endless genealogies, which minister questions, rather than godly edifying which is in faith: so do. 6) From which some having swerved have turned aside unto vain jangling; 7) Desiring to be teachers of the law; understanding neither what they say, nor whereof they affirm.
