Bible Question:
What is the difference between a pastoral epistle and a canonical epistle? I thought they were all in the canon? tumbleweed, God's Own |
Bible Answer: Hello tumbleweed, The pastoral epistles are 1 Timothy, 2 Timothy, and Titus. "Canonical" has the idea of being a standard or being generally accepted, so it can have variations of meaning. For instance, you are thinking of the Bible as the canon of Scripture. I do the same. There is also a way the word is used to include the Church Fathers and the ancient church councils, because those demonstrate the orthodox (or true or standard) faith. Steve |
