NASB | Colossians 2:8 ¶ See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception, according to the tradition of men, according to the elementary principles of the world, rather than according to Christ. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Colossians 2:8 ¶ See to it that no one takes you captive through philosophy and empty deception [pseudo-intellectual babble], according to the tradition [and musings] of mere men, following the elementary principles of this world, rather than following [the truth--the teachings of] Christ. |
Bible Question (short): Fulfilled Old Testament prophecies |
Question (full): I had a discussion with someone about how many of the prophecies in the Old Testament were fulfilled in the New Testament. He said that since the authors of the books in the New Testament knew of what was prophesized they could have wrote their work to explicitly and purposely fulfill those prophecies (to further their message). What can I answer to such a statement? If someone doesn't accept the Bible as fact, is there another way to show them that the prophecies were still fulfilled (whether you believe in the Bible or not)? Are there other sources describing these fulfilled prophecies? |
