Bible Question (short): Newcomer's response sabbath questions |
Question (full): The ten commandments are either nailed to the cross with the ceremonial law or still binding, surely? I don't think we've been given permission to edit them. I don't know where the verse is located, and I only remember the KJV version, but there's a text which says, "In vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrine the commandments of men." In context, some of the verses quoted by JVH0212 are referring to the Levitical laws which pointed forward to Christ's sacrifice, and which were ended by the real sacrifice. I can see nothing in the ten commandments which has this type of ending. Also, when Hebrews 4 was written, it used the illustration of a day still being kept holy - with no instructions to the contrary - as an illustration of the rest we find in Jesus. This tends to enhance the role of keeping the day holy, rather than doing away with the concept. If Sunday hasn't replaced the Sabbath, then what are we doing substituting our tradition for truth? |
