Bible Question (short): ENTERING INTO ETERNAL REST OR SABBATH |
Question (full): I came in here to find out if the word SABBATH or seventh day had a different meaning than an actual day. I have been going over and over this with my fiance. He believes that Saturday is the Sabbath and is very religious about it. I, on the other hand, believe that I LIVE IN the Sabbath rest in that my life belongs to Christ and I have entered into HIS REST EACH AND EVERY DAY. Is there a good verse to bring to the table with him on this issue. He keeps asking for bible verses. What you spoke already is VERY valuable to me. I believe also that after Christ we have entered into a new covenant where love is our greatest commandment. It supersedes all other laws. Any other wisdom on how to approach this in a way that someone with a good historical view of the bible would understand. He is very sharp--has read the Bible SO MANY TIMES--He spent years and years and years reading and re-reading the Bible. Many more times than I ever have, yet I feel he is missing the spirit of what the Bible speaks of in terms of what Christ did for us. We are set FREE from condemnation if we truly have accepted Christ to be our savior. Any suggestions? |
