NASB | Philippians 3:10 that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 3:10 And this, so that I may know Him [experientially, becoming more thoroughly acquainted with Him, understanding the remarkable wonders of His Person more completely] and [in that same way experience] the power of His resurrection [which overflows and is active in believers], and [that I may share] the fellowship of His sufferings, by being continually conformed [inwardly into His likeness even] to His death [dying as He did]; |
Bible Question: If we partake of Christ's suffering, what did Christ suffer? The obvious suffering was physical pain and emotional anguish. What does the scripture say was Christ suffering? |
Bible Answer: Charles 49, Php 3:10 Is this the verse you are referring to about partaking of Christ's suffering? He suffered His entire life on this earth. -At His birth there was no room for Him in the inn. -Then He had to flee for His life, with the help of Joesph -He suffered temptation, not did not yield. -He suffered in the midst of an ungodly generation. -Of his own 12 disciples, one betrayed Him, one denied Him, and the other ten ran away from Him. -In the Garden, He was in deep anguish. -On the cross, He saw His mother and John watching Him die. -Also, God forsook Him, and bore our sins. Read Psalm 22, also Acts 1:3. We cannot know the extent of His suffering. In the context of Phlippians 3:7-11, we need to count everything loss/ rubbish to gain and know Christ, even to the point of dying for Him. Paul goes on to say he hasn't reached the mark of knowing and being like Him (3:12-4:1), Steve |
