NASB | Philippians 1:14 and that most of the brethren, trusting in the Lord because of my imprisonment, have far more courage to speak the word of God without fear. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Philippians 1:14 Because of my chains [seeing that I am doing well and that God is accomplishing great things], most of the brothers have renewed confidence in the Lord, and have far more courage to speak the word of God [concerning salvation] without fear [of the consequences, seeing that God can work His good in all circumstances]. |
Bible Question (short): Why does Paul's imprisonment lessen fear |
Question (full): Why would the fact that that one of the greatest leaders of the early church (Paul) was in jail encourage other Christians to share their own faith with less fear? This seems to be the opposite effect from what I would expect. |
