Subject: What is the "Congregation of the Lord/" |
Bible Note: Searcher, Greetings to you and thank you. Maybe I didn’t set my question clearly (folks tell me I can really be abstract in my thinking). I know that a lot of times we get it wrong because of our faulty reasoning and bad perspectives; however, I’m not trying to “Spiritualize” an Old Testament Law; however, I do know that the Old Testament was written as an example for us (1 Cor 10:6,11), so I do realize that there is meaning in those laws. I’m sorry I’m one of those obsessive folks that refer back to the Old Contract (Covenant) to understand the New. I was hoping that maybe someone else has wrestled with that particular text and had some insight. But either way whether Ruth was 10th Generation or not what would that make David? I kind of think what ever she was once she declared to Naomi, “Your people will be my people and your God my God,” she moved from being a Moabite to being an Israelite. I’ve been reading through the entire bible yearly since 1984 and today’s reading included Deut 23-25. I became “stuck” on “Congregation of the Lord” and so I went “surfing” to see what I could find and that is how I came across this site. I was hoping that I could get some opinions. Thanks again for your comments Praze2theLord |
