Bible Question:
Hi, Why does he say to enjoy your vineyard before you go to battle in case you die? It sounds like "eat and drink, for tomorrow we die." Or, make sure to enjoy yourself while you're alive. Ryan |
Bible Answer: Greetings Ryan, Let me explain this in a little more depth.. Between verse 5 and 8, there are four exemptions from service in Israel's volunteer army that were cited to illustrate the principle that anyone whose heart was not in fight should not be going to war. Those who had other matters on their minds or were afraid were allowed to leave and return to their homes, since they would be useless in battle and even influence others to lose courage. Blessings to you, Makarios |
