Bible Question: I was told that a couple of people that I know should be marked as false prophets or liars because they prophesied something that did not come to pass. They mentioned a scripture (that I can not find) that says that if a person prophesies 10 times and only 9 out of the 10 come to pass then he is a liar or false prophet. Is this true? Where is that scripture found. Are prophesies conditional and are prophets allowed to error and still be true prophets? |
Bible Answer: Hello Servant always, Here is the passage: Deut 18:20-22 (NASB) 'But the prophet who speaks a word presumptuously in My name which I have not commanded him to speak, or which he speaks in the name of other gods, that prophet shall die.' [21] "You may say in your heart, 'How will we know the word which the LORD has not spoken?' [22] "When a prophet speaks in the name of the LORD, if the thing does not come about or come true, that is the thing which the LORD has not spoken. The prophet has spoken it presumptuously; you shall not be afraid of him. Steve |
