Subject: Can you please explain tithing? |
Bible Note: Hi bro, I would rather think it this way. Jesus said to love your neighbour as you would love yourself and in Mat 25:40 And the King will answer and say to them, Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me. Now if I am going to bless someone in need, what is wrong in giving tithes to the church. Do I need to be commanded by Christ to give to the needy? No. I would think as being a christian I will do all these without asking for justification nor recognition. Justification has nothing to do with tithes. If you believe so, then your are subjecting yourself to the law by such thought . I am giving tithes not because I want justification. I am giving because I love the church and it needs funds to function so that it may bless others as well especially non believers. To me, I believe the 10 percent is just a ball park figure remembering what Paul had said 2Cor 8:12 12 For if there is first a willing mind, it is accepted according to what one has, and not according to what he does not have. I will give (not pay) whatever I can afford. Like I said, its between me and the Lord and no one else. I do not even put my name on the cheque when I handed the tithe to the church so even my pastor does not know I gave. Not necessary. |
