Bible Note: Hello iktoose, Pastors, missionaries, evangelists, and church workers are not modern day Levites. The Levites did the "dirty work" for the tabernacle service--setting up, taking down, guarding, carrying the furnishings, etc. If you must find a modern day equivalent, it would be the deacons. But that really would not be correct either. God's desire is that each of his children would be act as a priest. This was even true of Israel (Exod 19:6). They failed, and God selected the tribe of Levi to minister to him with only one family (Aaron) who could serve as priests. Today, the entire church is a royal and holy priesthood and all minister to God. Now as to your desire to bring together to share--it's great idea. The New Testament calls that fellowship (Acts 2:42). Just don't burden it down by applying a law that is no longer needed. Steve |
