AMPLIFIED 2015 | Deuteronomy 12:15 ¶ "However, you may slaughter and eat meat within any of your [city] gates, whatever you wish, according to the blessing of the LORD your God which He has given you [as His generous provision for daily life]. The [ceremonially] unclean and the clean may eat it, such as the gazelle and the deer. |
Bible Question: why is it that God says they can eat unclean or clean whatever they lust over? Is the law about unclean meat not a law anymore? Also does it apply only to the gazelle and hart or does it apply to all unclean meat? |
Bible Answer: Greetings newcomer and welcome to the forum! According to the McArthur Study Bible while sacrificial offerings were brought to the appointed centers for worship as well as the central sanctuary, the killing and eating of meat for regular eating could be engaged in anywhere. The only restriction on eating non-sacrificial meat was the prohibition of the blood and the fat; the blood being the symbol and vital element of life itself. This differed from the rules during their encampment. prayon |
