NASB | Ephesians 5:5 For this you know with certainty, that no immoral or impure person or covetous man, who is an idolater, has an inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God. |
AMPLIFIED 2015 | Ephesians 5:5 For be sure of this: no immoral, impure, or greedy person--for that one is [in effect] an idolater--has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God [for such a person places a higher value on something other than God]. |
Bible Question: A challenging question - Why would anyone have to steal a Bible? The word says that people will stumble, but woe to the one who causes it. Do some feel so rejected by God's people that they must steal His word to learn it? |
Bible Answer: I'm not sure I truly understand how you got "stealing the bible" out of that verse...but it seems to me that this is referring to people who will fall away from their walk with God or from righteousness and that the person who caused them to stumble whether by lies or trickery or whatever is in big trouble! I was always taught that a Bible is always given freely...and we know from Scripture that the Word is written in our hearts by God. I do know that some believe that in Tribulation or one of those end periods that the world will have no scripture or that it will be taken away, banished so-to-speak...and that only those who studied or can remember will be able to lead others...but I myself am undecided on that theory...so far! |
