Subject: Is the bride of christ the church? |
Bible Note: Sorry again fellow believers but no one has given any scripture, which says that the bride of Christ is the church. All comments have been understandings, interpretations, methaphors and conclusions. On the other hand several comments have identified scriptures stating the church as the body of Christ. In my opinion, a part of the confusion is the post KJV translations of Ephesians 5: 25 - 26 where the pronoun "it" referring to the church has been changed to the gender word "her". Example, compare KJV and NAS KJV Eph:5 25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for "it"; 26 That he might sanctify and cleanse "it" with the washing of water by the word, NAS:Eph 5:25 Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself up for "her", 5:26 so that He might sanctify "her", having cleansed "her" by the washing of water with the word, Other post-KJV translations have a similar change. I note that the city Jerusalem in Rev 19 – 21 is described as the bride and NOT the church so why the conclusion that it’s the church and thus the bride of Christ? My conclusion is that the church is the body of Christ because the Bible says so in several places. The church is not the bride of Christ. I know that you cannot be the body and bride and represent all members(male and female). Perhaps someone can look at the original Hebrew of Ephesians 5. Finally fellow believers, I agree to disagree on this one since it is not central to saving souls for the kingdom. Grace and peace to all. |
