Bible Note: Yes, that is what I mean. For example before moving to South texas from Central texas. I attended First Christian. In the small town that I live in now. There is only a church of Christ. I love the people in the fellowship. But it is a very tight nit congregation. And they have views that I don't agree with. I went for a visit to my good friend. And asked him to baptize me. As I believe that it is not the name that is hung on the door of a church. It is what is in your heart. Many say that I am wrong on those views. But I don't know the passage. But I read that it is loving the lord and believeing that he is the son of christ that has died for our sins. So that we may ask for forgiveness. And if we are sincere in our asking. We are forgiven. I have asked one memeber to tell me where in the bible that it has a spacific name. As my preacher and dear friend said that there are 5 churches of christ in the town I used to live in. And in that each one studies the bible in a different way. For example. One memeber decided to open shop on Sunday and not attend church. The congrigation stood up and read this letter that they wrote this family. Telling them that if they did not come and ask for forgiveness of the church members that they were to not eat or associate with them. I almost feel out of my chair. As in my opionion. And we all have one. That if you push the one that is doing wrong away. How in the world will you convince him that what he is doing is wrong. To turn the other cheek and treat him badly. When I stated my view, I was told that there has to be dicipline in the church. And he must ask the members for forgiveness. I ask them if they were god. That are they going to stand next to this family on their judgement day. Saying I told you so. Or will this family stand by themselves on judgement day and have to explain why he or she did what they did. I said I do believe that it will be them alone that has to explain their actions. And that we need to love our brothern. Meaning you don't have to go and be best friends with this person. But not to turn your check if they walk down the road and say hi. Now, back to marriage and divorce. The book that I am studing right now is 1 Corinthians by Mike Willis. In chapter 7. Which caused me to write to this forum. There are questions that are kind of confusing. Example. There are six questions about false doctorines and how would I answer them. I had no answer. So I wrote my preacher. And he gave me his vies. If you have time. Could you tell me what your views on the 6 questions are? 1.Paul says that every man should be able to marry in order to avoid fornication. 1 Cor. 7:2 2.Is it better to marry than to burn in lust? 1 Cor. 7:9 3.If one's mate deserts him, he is not under bondage. 7:15 4. Paul teaches that Jesus Teaching on divorce and remarriage in Matt. 19:9 does not apply to non christians. 1 Cor. 7:12. Therefore, those who wish to be baptized should stay with the mate they are married to at the time of baptizm. 5.Paul teaches Christians to abide in the calling wherein he was called 1 Cor. 7:20. A person should stay in a marriage he is when he is baptized. 6. Paul tells those divorced "loosed" That they have not sinned if they remarry. I have the answers from my preacher. But would like to see if yours are somewhat the same. My pastor also said these words to me. " Some times remarriage after a divorce is portrayed as a sin which god will not forgive. Thie is an error. Jesus specifically says only one sin is not forgivable, and that is the sin against the Holy Spirit Matt. 12:31 Aslo in every age since the beginning the divil would do his work starting with the family. The family is vulnerable because we are weak as human beings. God knows this, as the Psalmist says " HE knows how we're made. He remembers that we're dust. Psalm 103:14. Because God is our father and creator, he is able to love and forgive us our most awful offences. He taught us to pray " forgive us our sins as we forgive those that sin against us" If we can forgive those who sin against us in relationships. Then surely god can do so even more". No, matter your answer. I am the type of person that honors and excepts and loves all that have their own opinion. As that is why we are all so different. Never is one person better than the other. We all have our own special way of thinking. But the bible is clear yet unclear as God has made us our own individual being. Or we would not have other views. If that makes any sense. I am searching so hard. And I pray that the right anwers will come. As I need some insight right now in my life. Thank you again for your time. I look forward to hearing from you. If and when you answer those 6 questions. I will let you know if you and my preacher see it the same way. I will give you his answers to the question. I can not give you mine. As I did not know the answers. |
