Subject: What are our duties as man and wife |
Bible Note: That long two letter response covers those things. It is a study that came out of my divorce. To sum it up, being widowed, adultery in the spouse, and a nonbeliever choosing to leave is the only grounds for divorce and being free to remarry. Physical Abuse, Emotional destruction, withdrawl of sex, and drugs have all been stated as giving a person the freedom to divorce and remarry. When my apparently believing spouse chose to leave, I had a terrible battle. I had a high sex drive and God said you must stay single. The verse is 1 Cor 10-11. If you need to get divorced, you must remain unmarried of get reconciled. I had to stay single. I cried, I prayed, I hurt, and God said, My grace is sufficient. Then she committed adultery, and I was free to remarry. I slowly looked, and finally 10 years after the divorce (9 after the adultery) I found a pearl of great price and married her. Read both halves carefully, and you should find a complete analysis of each divorce verse. needless to say, Physical or emotional abuse, or severe alcoholism that interferes with the ability to financially take care of the children is grounds to get divorced and stay single only. If you remarried without meeting the Biblical standards, divorce the new spouse to remarry the old, one disobeys the old Testament that forbids one to remarry the old spouse. Ask forgiveness and move on. Stay married to the new spouse. Your loving brother in Christ greentwiga |
