Bible Question: can anyone keep the 10 commandment? |
Bible Answer: Hi Baldvin, No one but Jesus has ever kept them perfectly. That is why he is the saviour and we can't save ourselves. The devil is able to get mankind into strife, envy, confusion, lying against God's truth, (truth is Gods' word John 17:17), every evil work by his wisdom, which is earthly, sensual and devilish, according to James 3:14-15 He was never able to do that to Jesus. Jesus always knew how satan was trying to trick him into walking out of Love for God and mankind, so he just didn't do it. So Jesus is the only one who perfectly kept all of God's commandments. Our part is to admit we have broken them before and after we were saved by him, ask him to forgive us and help us not to walk out of love as it is described in II Cor 13:4-8, and according to his written word. You can resist the devil and he will flee from you. James 4:6-8 But he (God) gives more grace, Therefore he said, God resists the proud, but gives grace (or no resistence) to the humble. Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you. clease your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double minded. The humble are described as the obedient. Phil 2:8 speaking of Jesus, "And being found in fashion as a man, he HUMBLED HIMSELF, (how?) and became OBEDIENT (to whom? God the Father, up to and including)death, even the death of the cross. Only Jesus could pay the price for sin, by dying on the cross, his blood was Holy Blood. No one else could do that, so Jesus came, obeyed God, destroyed the devil, Heb 2:14, and his works, I John 3:8, and his dominion over mankind, ICor 15:54-58, death is an enemy I Cor 15:26, in christ all are made alive I Cor 15:22. That does not mean we can purposly ignore what God has said in the commandments that would be disobedience to God. Somewhat like a spoiled child that has no discipline at home, so they tear up things and do not learn how to respect God, themselves or others. That is how satan acts, God doesn't want us doing those things, and we have to first learn what God says to do, then learn what God says not to do, then just obey what God says to do! You will then be a disciplined child, any parent would be proud to take any where and show off before the whole world. Always in Christ, C.S.M. |
