AMPLIFIED 2015 | Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit [the result of His presence within us] is love [unselfish concern for others], joy, [inner] peace, patience [not the ability to wait, but how we act while waiting], kindness, goodness, faithfulness, |
Bible Question:
Fruit vs Works: are they the same thing? Jesus said, in regards to bearing fruit, we can do nothing outside of Him (John 15:5). He says we must abide in Him. In verse 9, He says if we abide in His love we will keep His commandments. While doing a study today of John 15:5 and surrounding text, I realized I was trying to equate fruit with works. Is this an incorrect assumption? Are they two separate things? I'd greatly appreciate any Scripture showing that they are either equal or two separate things. In Christ, Karen |
Bible Answer: Fruit is by the Spirit, Galatians 5:22 and Ephsians 5:9 and the Works of the Flesh are Galatians 5:19-21. Can you have a Work of the Spirit? Of coures, it is in Ephesians 2:10. Works are done by Doing, and Fruit is borne by Dying to one's self and allowing the Spirit to flow though us, "so that God gets the Glory!" Wicked or wrong works will be burnt up, but fruit borne for God's glory will receive a Crown! Fruit is done in Romans 8:14 and His Leadings, in accord with His Word, James 1:22. Thank you! |
