Bible Note: Joy Writer :: Welcome! From your first post: "We're all guilty of trying to do things for ourselves..." How true this is! This foolishness of human beings reminds me of a scene from Erskine Caldwell's "Tobacco Road." The setting of the book is in the red clay country of northern Georgia. The share croppers were having a tough time making it because of a severe drought. One of the characters of the book, a share cropper named Ty Ty, went out to his fields to find them parched and his crops in ruin. He decided to pray and stretching his arms skyward, he prayed to the Lord and said, "Lord, you know how bad we need rain down here and I've decided to give you one more chance. But I'm warning you, Lord, if you don't do something real soon, I'll be forced to take matters into my own hands." ..... --Hank |
